OBJECTIVES OF RISTAKA FOUNDATION They are so far 25 of them, namely, 1. To provide training, workshops, seminars in community development to the local community. 2. To improve appropriate level of education by building schools with particular emphasis to those areas where such services are non- existent. 3. To provide prompt and effective response to the community in all kinds of programmes and also foster long term goals. 4. To use wherever possible the existing structures as a base of operation to promote all community development activities for the benefit of the local people. 5. To train the local people about good methods of small-scale agriculture, provide the community with safe water, eating nutritious foods and literacy. 6. To subscribe, contribute or otherwise aid or provide from time to time benevolent national educational institutional or objects which shall have to support the company by reason of the nature or the locality of its operation or otherwise. 7. To import, export, arrange for shipment, airlifting and distribution of goods and articles to the people of Uganda. 8. To enter into any agreement or arrangement with any Government or other authorities, persons, organizations, local, international or otherwise that may seem. 9. To promote education for the young men and women and prepare them for the future. 10. To provide endow furnish and fix out with all necessary facilities, furniture, instruments and other equipments and maintain, control and manage schools for instructing students in all subjects of learning including agriculture, crafts, trades, liberal arts and professions whether at primary, secondary or post – secondary or college levels. 11. To Provide for the education and train nutritionists and agriculture at all levels 12. To purchase, take or lease or in exchange, hire or otherwise acquire any real and personal estate which may be deemed necessary or convenient for any of the purposes of the company. 13. To construct, maintain and alter any houses, buildings, or works necessary or convenient for the purposes of the company. 14. To take any gift of property, whether subject to any special or not, for anyone or more of the objects of the company. 15. To take such steps by personal or written appeals, public meeting or otherwise, as may from time to time be deemed expedient for the purpose of procuring contributions to the funds of the association, in the shape of donations, annual subscriptions or otherwise. 16. To print and publish any newspapers, periodicals, books or leaflets that the company may think desirable for the promotion of its objects. 17. To sell, manage, lease, mortgage, dispose of, or otherwise deal with all or any of the property of the company. 18. To borrow and raise money in such manner as the company may think fit. 19. To invest any money of the company, not immediately required for any of its objects, in such manner as may from time to time be determined. 20. To undertake and execute any trusts or any agency business which may seem directly conducive to any of the objects of the company. 21. To subscribe to any local or other charities, and to grant donations for any public purpose, and to provide a superannuation fund for the servants of the company or otherwise to assist any such servants, their widows and children. 22. To establish and support and to aid the establishment and support of any other company formed for all or any of the objects of this company. 23. To purchase or otherwise acquire and undertake all or any part of the property, assets, liabilities and engagements of any one or more of the companies, institutions, societies or associations with which this company is authorized to amalgamate. 24. To transfer all or any part of the property, assets, liabilities and engagements of this company to anyone or more of the companies, institutions, societies or associations with which this company is authorized to deal with. 25. To do any, and all such other things, as are conducive and necessary to attain any or all the above as may be decided upon by the association’s executive committee and the General Meeting, from time to time. SOME OF THE PLANNED ACTIVITIES FOR THE FIRST 10 YEARS a) To register the foundation both as a company and an NGO. b) To promote Christian balanced education through establishing a primary, secondary and vocational schools in rural set up where other co-curricular activities can easily be implemented. c) To establish an agro farm where work education programme shall be practiced. d) To acquire land of at least 50 acres. e) To carry out family life seminars in various places of Uganda targeting the youth and Adults. f) To carry on Christ’s mission of evangelism in preparation for the 2nd Advent of Christ. This was to be effected through visiting various places, carrying out gospel crusades, music ministry, Christian Drama. Family life seminars, written literature, Recorded gospel messages etc. g) Construction of buildings where to implement most of the planned activities. h) To establish a medical centre where medical and Christian counseling services shall be offered i) To establish a recreation centre for various social, physical & spiritual purposes j) To build human resource capacity for future employment. ACHIEVEMENTS: 1. The foundation was registered, limited by guarantee with three members but now has seven registered members, namely; i) Kasumba Richard ii) Kandi Rapheal iii) Namagembe K. Theopista (Mrs) iv) Nabukalu Juliet v) Galiwango Dan vi) Nanjebe Deborah K vii) Mayengo Eliab Wilson The first three are the Directors of the foundation & others executive members. 2. Promotion of Christian balanced education has been done: a) A secondary school (S.1-S.6) in the names of RISTAKA HIGH SCHOOL was established in Busiika Trading centre-Kalagala Subcounty, Luweero District in the year 1999 and first operated in rented premises of Wasswa Nakibinge, Kawooya, Monica Nakiyimba and Musoke. b) A Junior school (Nursery –P2) in the names of RISTAKA JUNIOR SCHOOL was started in 2009 to provide the required Christian balanced education to both staff and community children. 3. Land a) High school land at Busiika i) About 2 acres on Kigongo Land ii) About 4 acres on Mayanja Land. iii) About 1 acre on Lule Land. iv) 110ft x 130ft plot at Nakwero on Kafeero Land. b) Junior school land i) About 40ft x 100ft plot on Mayanja Land ii) About 2 acres on Amina-Serwambala Land c) School farm land, at Binyonyi –Busiika i) About 10 acres on Sitamiri Land. ii) About 2 acres on Katongole land 4a) On part of High school land, a staff banana plantation of about ¼ acre was established. b) All the directors’ land is being utilized for both domestic and school farm purposes. c) The whole school farm land is already being utilized; there is horticulture farming, banana plantation, annual crops like maize, potatoes, beans, which supplement the feeding of students. d) Through work Education programme, students have managed to raise school tuition, and even acquired skills of farming & making bricks. Some of them are now graduates; e.g Kyotayinze Williams, Sekinkuse Julius, Kitooke Joash, Nabukalu Juliet, and others include Kabagambe, Lukenge Charles etc More are still benefiting like, Ziwa Lawrence , Nkurunziiza Charles , Mugabi Isaiah, Teziyale Emmanuel, Agaba Keneth, Mulinda Vicent, Mwesigye Robert, Segawa Wilber, Segawa Samuel, Lukwago Moses, Muwanga Ivan, Mugambwa Samuel,Kavuma Stanley, Tumusabe Erisa. e) On one of the directors’ land, an artificial forest ( Kalittunsi-two acres) was planted. f) On another directors’ land, banana and coffee plantations were planted. 5. Since 2006, family life and youth seminars have been carried out in a number of local districts, namely; Kiboga, Mityana, Nakaseke, Wakiso, Kampala, Luweero, Mukono, Kayunga, Masaka, Mbarara, Kamuli, Jinja, Kaliro, Iganga and Mayuge. - Seminars of the same kind have also been carried out on Radio media, namely; Prime Radio FM 91.9 at Kireka, Dunamis Radio at Mukono and Maranatha FM 104.7 at Jinja 6. Evangelism in preparation for the 2nd Advent of Christ has been carried out over different media; Prime Radio FM 91.9, CBS FM 88.8, and Maranatha FM 104.7. - A number of sermons and presentations / lessons are recorded on CDs and tapes. - Much of the information has been printed in form of hand outs and books, namely Ekkula Ly’amaka, World war 3, (English) or Ssematalo Ow’okusatu (Luganda). - The Director Kasumba Richard has been involved in more than 30 gospel crusades, - RISTAKA High has recorded one album for Gospel ministry and another one for socio-cultural purposes 3. RISTAKA Foundation has a number of permanent buildings, a) 2 roomed farm house at Katikamu b) 2 roomed farm house at Mangira c) 3 roomed farm house at Binyonyi-Busiika. d) 6 roomed residential house at Lukyamu ( for Directors) e) Staff house block (incomplete) on Junior Campus. f) 2 Staff house blocks ( (7 rooms) on Lule Land. g) 2 staff house blocks (8 rooms) on Kigongo Land. h) Main classroom block (4 classrooms, one office+ staff room) i) Director’s block (3 class rooms) + four offices j) Girls’ dormitory blocks (3 rooms + 3 office + canteen). k) Tentative main hall block. l) Boy’s dormitory (3 complete –rooms + 1 incomplete room) 4. A sick bay is being operated in 3 rented rooms of Miss Namazzi. It is yet to be improved to a level of a dispensary or health centre to serve the community as well. 5. Land where to establish a recreation centre was bought but not yet developed to the required standard. 6. Ssali’s shop -Old Taxi Park. v) School motto: “Education for Eternity” vi) School mission: To harmoniously develop the mental, spiritual, physical, economic and social faculties of RISTAKA family members and the community members. vii) School vision: To bear the brightest light in all aspects of life, starting in its locality and then nation wide, so as to have its members good citizens here in this world and in the world to come. viii) School Anthem: ( Chorus): Arise and shine prosper in knowledge Be hailed far and wide, Good will from thy neighbors. Thou art life, joy, peace and hope And light to every people, Remember, ‘Education for eternity’ b) The school is registered with the Ministry of Education & Sports No. PSS/R/60 c) The school has a UNEB Centre for ‘O’ and ‘A’ Levels; No. U1914. d) Site plan and Building plans of all buildings were made pending approval by the District authorities. e) Enough land for all school premises was acquired pending payments to acquire land Titles. f) Academically, the school has been progressing well, number of first and second grades increase from year to year and no failures for the last 3 years. At UACE many qualify for entry to universities and other institutions. Some old students have qualified in various disciplines with certificates, diplomas and degrees. g) The school has now 9 blocks used as classroom dormitories and staff quarters h) The students’ enrollment has grown to about 500 (some of them are international students) and more than 40 staff members. i) The school has furniture, beds, science Lab equipments and a computer lab. More are still demanding due to the growing students’ population. j) The school has 1 borehole on the school site and the school is linked to UMEME power supply. k) The school has a well established library and a lisography used to print exams. l) The school has a pick- up to ease transport to a certain extent. m) Spiritually, there is a great progress; a good number of students and staff who have passed through RISTAKA have been baptized to Christ and reformed character wise and those demon - possessed delivered. Every year, we carry out 2 sessions of spiritual emphasis besides the daily chapel services, morning devotions, Sabbath worship and counseling services. n) 2 audio albums were recorded. o) For health benefits, the school has a sick bay where students and staff are attended to. p) Some staff members and old students have married. q) The school has a public address system & a DSTV. r) The school is now situated on tarmac road. s) A least every permanent work has managed to get a plot of land for further development. DEVELOPMENTS AT RISTAKA JUNIOR SCHOOL. a) Contact Address: (same as RISTAKA High School) School Motto: “N’ezikookolima gaali magi” School Mission and vision (same as RISTAKA High) b) One block was constructed at its site. c) It has 2 blocks where to accommodate staff members. d) The school started with a enrollment of about 40 pupils (Nursery – P.2) and 4 staff members. e) The school has enough land for its premises. f) The school has a bore hole on its site and a UMEME service pole just on campus. FUTURE PLANS OF RISTAKA FOUNDATION WITH IN THE NEXT 10 YEARS (2010-2020). 1. To develop further the laid plans of its projects. ie a) RISTAKA High School. b) RISTAKA Junior School c) Human Resource capacity building; RISTAKA members to up grade to higher levels. d) RISTAKA recreation ground to be developed to a level that can attract National & International beneficiaries. e) RISTAKA sick bay to be developed to a Dispensary/Health centre. f) RISTAKA farms to be developed to produce an output of at least 50% out of the total income of RISTAKA Foundation. 2. Each project to be self sustaining. 3. To acquire more land and land titles for farming & artificial forests 4. The welfare of the foundation Directors and members to be improved to a reasonable status. 5. RISTAKA ministry to reach at least every District in Uganda and some parts outside Uganda. 6. To construct a vocational school. 7. To establish a branch of RISTAKA High School. 8. To be connected to Internet at our site and also have website page plus a foundation logo. 9. Identify possible funders/ donors to assist run our projects. 10. Identify possible sponsors for the many orphans we have in our two schools. 11. Insuring all buildings of RISTAKA 12. Animal husbandry i.e cattle and poultry farming. 13. Water project that can serve the school and the community around. CHALLENGES 1. Little funds to enable each project to be self sustaining. 2. Less land for Agro forestry farming. 3. Lack of truck (s) for effective running the foundation projects. 4. The demand for services is much higher than our ability to meet it. 5. The director has been overloaded; being the director plus other responsibilities 6. Security of RISTKA property including land. We thank the Almighty God who has a.
